Goodbye Baby, Hello Toddler!

(Still catching up on photos from this summer.) What a blissful day this was. Jack had just learned how to walk the day before (you can see how proud he is by that big ol' smile) and the sun had finally decided to grace us with her presence.  Best of all, we got a few more shots of our baby crawling before he gave it up entirely.  He has since outgrown that hat and outfit and is now the proud owner of 12, going on 16 teeth! Time sure flies when you're having fun!

Open Space

Our absolute favorite part of summer in Portland is the PARKS. Big and well designed (some by MIG!) spaces of lush green grass, big leafy trees, innovative children's playgrounds, sports fields, walking paths, rivers, squirrels, ducks, and picnic tables--in a nutshell, the best way to spend a warm summer day. We just can't get enough of them! Especially on big blue-skied, puffy cloud Portland August days. So far we've gone to two movies in the park (though we always end up leaving right when the movie's starting), and have explored 3 new parks: Irving Park in NE Portland--saw two bands, ate a chocolate and peanut butter Voo Doo donut and shoestring Burgerville fries and watched the first 15 minutes of Fantastic Mr. Fox; George Rogers Park--discovered a little lakeshore perfect for swimming in beautiful Lake Oswego; and Ibach Park (designed by MIG!) where we checked out the amazing children's play area and watched Jack as he easily walked 2 football field's worth on the giant grassy expanse at the park's entrance. Ahhhhhh, summer, how I love you!

Life through my Dad's eyes

Jack is one lucky boy! He got to have his Papa Michael at his very first birthday party! And boy, am I lucky. I get to have a Dad who loves his camera! We had such a wonderful time while he visited us up here in Portland. Here are some of my favorites from the many that he sent to us. I love seeing the world through his eyes. My Dad has such an affection for life and beauty. So glad I get to share it with all of you!

Love you, Dad!
