Open Space

Our absolute favorite part of summer in Portland is the PARKS. Big and well designed (some by MIG!) spaces of lush green grass, big leafy trees, innovative children's playgrounds, sports fields, walking paths, rivers, squirrels, ducks, and picnic tables--in a nutshell, the best way to spend a warm summer day. We just can't get enough of them! Especially on big blue-skied, puffy cloud Portland August days. So far we've gone to two movies in the park (though we always end up leaving right when the movie's starting), and have explored 3 new parks: Irving Park in NE Portland--saw two bands, ate a chocolate and peanut butter Voo Doo donut and shoestring Burgerville fries and watched the first 15 minutes of Fantastic Mr. Fox; George Rogers Park--discovered a little lakeshore perfect for swimming in beautiful Lake Oswego; and Ibach Park (designed by MIG!) where we checked out the amazing children's play area and watched Jack as he easily walked 2 football field's worth on the giant grassy expanse at the park's entrance. Ahhhhhh, summer, how I love you!
